Abația Melk este situată pe un deal stâncos cu vedere spre
Umberto Eco denumește unul din protagoniștii
romanului său Numele trandafirului, după numele acestei abații, "Adso von Melk".
Melk Abbey is an Austrian Benedictine abbey, and one of
the world's most famous monastic sites. It is located above
the town of Melk on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river
Danube in Lower Austria, adjoining the Wachau valley.
In his well-known novel The Name of the Rose, Umberto Eco
named one of the protagonists "Adso von Melk"
as a tribute to the abbey and its famous library.

Too much to take in at one go so I'll have to come back again. Superb photography and as always your treatment and processing is both sympathetic and effective.

It is amazingly beautiful. I like its ecclesiastical feel of the buildings. Even the lines of walkway creates a fascinating interesting picture is nonetheless a beautiful capture.

What a place! I like your use of color blended with mono.
I enjoy the books of Umberto Eco, the taste of Benedictine and the sight of old, opulent buildings, so this particular post scores high points with me, Wind.
You were a lucky man to have explored such a place, and your visitors are fortunate you choose to share the photographs of your travels with them. Thank you.

This is a sunning place without compromise - very beautiful, very grand. You captured the spirit of the abbey artfully.

Fotografiile sunt extraordinare, dar si realitatea este la fel.
one of the most spectacular places in Austria and you captured it so well!
In schimb va putea sa spuna: "ut in omnibus glorificetur deus". Asta, DA!
PS: nu imi dau seama cum, dar imi arata ca postarea asta are PR=5. Nebanuite sunt caile ... Google.
Hi Wind, You give us a variety of lessons here in composition and processing. The amazing interiors of sculpture and artwork remind me of Rome. I can almost feel the marble and the books... oh sorry, I'm not allowed to touch the books. I have been looking for staircases recently but there is no comparison to image 10. I like the vanishing point theme going on in many images. ...another self portrait ?, how privileged are we?!... from a safe distance of course .. ha ha !!
Wind:
You always manage to take photographs to have us see the beauty in a very unique way. Each photo is exquisite, and the last two took me by surprise, for not only for the black and white with the spot of blue and the leaves piled so neatly with the spots of color, but the emotional depth you captured, we can feel the books, touch the people and walk with you down the narrow streets, so powerful is your art.
