Village Museum (Muzeul Satului): Wood, Windows, Cats and Time (II)

The Village Museum was established in 1936 and it contains over 300 wooden houses, windmills, churches etc. from all over the country.  Many of the buildings are originals which were brought here in pieces and reassembled. The oldest houses date as far back as the 17C. Behind the project from the start was ethnographer Dimitrie Gusti (1880 - 1955) who wanted the museum to mirror as closely as possible the aspects of the rural life. Because of this the museum is organized as a real village, with clusters of houses being linked by winding paths. This makes for a pleasant stroll especially if you find yourself in Bucharest during the summer, when the city is hot and dusty.

This village museum represents a vastly different way of life when everything was handmade by skilled artisans who took pride in their work and gave their work character, unlike today's mass production that is only interested in profits :-).

I think I easily could live inside a structure such as the manner you reveal in your photographs, Wind. Of course, I would hope to have all of the modern conveniences of daily life within the building. That is to say, warm in the Winter and cool in the Summer.

The degree and the quality of pure art that can emerge from a few pieces of wood is amazing, and to capture these visions through photography is equally amazing. Your work has star quality, Wind.

Pai, poti pierde o vesnicie uitandu-te la fiecare dintre ele in parte. Sunt deosebite.
Tree and roof... interesant punctul de vedere.

You transport us back to the future, capturing the essence of the life in each close up. The wood macros tells a story of its own, the fresh colors of the woven rugs are creative and delightful.

This museum is an amazing place that you keep on doing justice to. As always I like the windows and doors with the textures. It is unfortunate that the thing that does not show much interest in your work is the cat ! On the other hand the contrast in textures between the wood and the cat in image 2 is great.
