The Forgotten Mosilor Street / Bucharest

Mosilor Street, the modern thoroughfare of a Bucharest that struggles so hard to appear occidentalized and yet doesn’t quite manage to: something Balkan, Levantine lingers in the atmosphere of the streets, in spite of the concrete ten-floor blocks, of the road with three lanes each way and the tram embankment in the middle, for long and silent carriages. Buses and trolleybuses with glaring commercials applied on their bodies pass by in a hurry through the stream of cabs along the streets with restaurants, bars and strip-tease cabarets, belly dances and manele.

It might more aptly be called the street of lost or forgotten dreams. Streets are like people in many instances: They progress from being young and vibrant, middle-aged and dignified, old and deteriorating.

This particular street also is a photographer's living dream, with the artistic angles and beckoning vistas naturally created from crumbling and worn buildings. Streets such as this are wonderful in that they are symbolic reminders that nothing is forever on this earth.

Fantastic photography, Daliana. Your photographs tell a story of a street that lives both in memory and in reality.

Zilele astea ma oripilau niste poze de oe aiurea dar avem si noi destule asemenea locuri...ma intreb daca vor disparea vreodata cu desavarsire?!

Omigod. Is this possible? It makes me wonder how come we do not have this kind of poverty at home, not that bad, ever. Are we simply lucky? I think so.

Whatever. You show poverty and money side by side. What an extraordinary series. I agree with some others that I will have to reread this post several times. You are a great artist, no doubt.
