The Aleph

“A man sets out to draw the world. As the years go by, he peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, instruments, stars, horses, and individuals. A short time before he dies, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the lineaments of his own face.”
― Jorge Luis Borges, The Aleph and Other Stories

A fascinating face; a fascinating portrait of the face.

Your photograph makes me wonder if the lines and expression carved in this man's face were created from inherited genes, from personal hardships, from inner sadness, from a life of toil beneath the blazing sun. It reminds me that no matter what a face reveals -- coarseness or beauty -- it is only a mask, and it hides the interior of the individual behind it.

In any case, your photograph has melded with a man's life to become art, Daliana.
