Dürnstein is a small town on the Danube river in the Krems-Land in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.
The name "Dürnstein" - in earlier days "Tirnstein" - originates from the rocky area, "dem dürren Stein", where the settlement was founded. Dürnstein has kept its historic character and is regarded as the most romantic place in the Wachau.

G' Day From Australia, I like the way you used the tunnel arch as a picture frame to highlight the buildings, the river and mountains in the background. I'm not a big fan of Dire Straits but lyrics suit the photos.

ReplyDeleteWind, these beautiful photographs brought some nice memories to me. Thank you for that. I was in Austria only once and for a very short time. Today I "walked' again on its old streets, "sat" on this lonely bench and "looked" at windows with flowers hanging down.
