Dürnstein ( Austria) - Streets and Walls

Dürnstein is a small town on the Danube river in the Krems-Land  in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.
The name "Dürnstein" - in earlier days "Tirnstein" - originates from the rocky area, "dem dürren Stein", where the settlement was founded. Dürnstein has kept its historic character and is regarded as the most romantic place in the Wachau.
Dürnstein este un oraș cu 911 locuitori din districtul Krems-Land, regiunea Wachau din Austria Inferioară.  Este situat pe Dunăre, și este considerat cel mai romantic oras din Sud.

..............
A three-chord symphony crashes into space
The moon is hanging upside down
I don't know why it is I'm still on the case
It's a ravenous town
And you still refuse to be traced
Seems to me such a waste
And every victory has a taste that's bittersweet
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street

On Every Street Lyrics /Dire Straits

  1. G' Day From Australia, I like the way you used the tunnel arch as a picture frame to highlight the buildings, the river and mountains in the background. I'm not a big fan of Dire Straits but lyrics suit the photos.

  21. Wind, these beautiful photographs brought some nice memories to me. Thank you for that. I was in Austria only once and for a very short time. Today I "walked' again on its old streets, "sat" on this lonely bench and "looked" at windows with flowers hanging down.

And a poem is beautiful.... And it's so true that "every victory has a taste that is bittersweet."

    Wonderful photography, Wind!!!!!!

  30. Hi Wind, another top class post. Windows, doors and arches always go down well with me. I like the lanes and cobbled streets, the leaves on the steps, and interesting roof, Your trademark is here once again with 'your' photograph, textures and the unspoken story of the empty seat. have a good week, J
