Flowers Day in VILLAGE MUSEUM - FLORIILE in MUZEUL SATULUI

Macro Flowers-Saturday

' Flowers Day'- this holiday marks the end of the Easter fasting but also the revival of nature after winter.
It is considered to be the name day of all Romanians with names of flowers (Florina, Florin, Margareta, etc.)
On this day, people go the church to bless small branches from the willow tree and later put them on door and window sills to protect their home from ills and unpleasant event.
In terms of religion, 'Floriile' marks the entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem and on this day people are allowed and it is customary to eat fish. ( focus Romania )

  1. wonderful shots. I really enjoyed watching. The 17th is my fav. Made me think for a while about what it is and why it is there. A lost toy of a child? Great post for a sunny morning.

  42. Hi Wind, It is always a pleasure to look in your page and talk about what I see and enjoy. I am liking this village museum very much after the many times that you have taken me here. Beautiful and well photographed flowers, a celebration of colour here as well as the traditions of Romania and Christianity. I love the way that you use the themed colours that run through the second quarter of the post... brilliant. I smiled when I saw the framed artwork as it has probably got more to do with traditions than ... Palm Sunday !!
My best wishes to you, J
